16 series
According to my info downloaded from Anschutz the "16" series was made between 1974 - 1979. Serial #143655 - 182155 and the serial number had an "X" suffix.
Also the new bolt was the first to have the bent handle with a plastic ball, instead of the all in one straight handle and ball end.

Not all X guns have the large plastic bolt knob like the 1811's do, my friends and I laughingly refer to these transitional models as "1711's". My 1611 has the small metal bolt knob just like the older 1411 series rifles.
You have to request serial number info from Anschutz via e-mail, I did it when it was free. Now I think you have to pay.

Plastic knob...sigh...took a major act of Congress to pull off the old plastic/bakelite knob on my son's 1913 and bling it with a colored aluminum knob. Hot water from the tap and vise grips work, but take the bolt apart first, and plan on the old knob being destroyed in the process.
Why do the put plastic bolt knobs on a $2700 rifle???!!
