Anschutz rear sight rotation

Post by Guest »

Does anyone know for certain if the Anschutz rear sights are American or European style rotation? Supposedly American rotation is counterclockwise for up and right. It would make sense that Anscutz is European rotation but I'm not certain.

Correct, CCW for up and right !

I know that Russian sights are reversed.
Don't know which others are "backwards".

Worldwide, all machine screws - including those in your sights - normally follow the "right hand rule". Make a fist of your right hand, point the thumb up. The fingers point CCW, the thumb points UP. Just like the screw threads.

When people refer to Anschuetz sights as "backward", they are refering to the "R-L", "T-H" markings on the knobs. Look for the word "bei" on germanic micrometer sights - it means, roughly, "with". They have stamped the sight knobs with the traditional sight adjustment rule, so you don't have to remember it ("adjust the rear sight in the direction you want the shots to move"). Just realize that "with" ("bei") left shots, for instance, you twiddle the knob in the "L" direction. Same goes for High shots (bei H), low (bei T = tief), and R.
