I heard Steyr is coming out with a trigger than fires by thought command.
My source is the president of Steyr. Therefore, I must be telling the truth -or maybe I just made the whole thing up.
just talked to an employee of steyr. at the end of march they will release the LP10 with a new trigger unit that is fitted with ball bearings. therefore the trigger characteristics will improve, they say that it will be a lot "smoother".
again, the trigger unit from all present lp10's ca be exchanged to a new one.
but - no official news for the LP10E ;)
by the way: a few years ago, steyr produced a few lp50 with electronic triggers because of the former free regulation of the trigger weight. but as this regulation has been changed, they decided to go stay with the mechanical one.

Where did they get that idea from. The rule has not changed at all. There is still no minimum trigger weight for the AP multi shot events, see rule 8.20.10.
hm, you're right! i never shot rapid fire, so i don't know very much of this discipline.
i misinterpreted the answer from steyr. they had problems with the mechanical trigger of the lp5. for a short period they built the LP5 with an electronic trigger because of that. the reason that they didn't stay with the electronic trigger is that the mechanical one became better and didn't make problems any more. that was basically the same trigger as in the lp50.

Don't take this the wrong way but there's no official news about anything. Your annonymous postings may in fact be true, but they could be total garbage. I reserve judgement until Steyr actually say something.
you can try to verify it for yourself. i think they will confirm at least that they will release the lp10 with the new trigger unit. that will take place in march, so chances are that they will tell you something about it...

That obviously changed 2 years after my post.
Under the 2009 rules, 8.20.10, the minimum trigger weight is now 500g.
