Air rifle Choice?
Looking to purchase air rifle for my 13 year old son.He is shooting a 1907 anschutz small bore.Thinking of a wood stock model so it is closer to his 1907.How is the 8002 anschutz club rifle? Is the ambi stock a drawback as far as the how the rifle feels? Also considering fwb 700 basic or walther wood stock model. Thanks
Keep looking to the future as well .... is he always going to use a club gun in smallbore? If you're looking at something in the future there, factor that into your setups
Also, if you can find a 2002 in wood, it is pretty close to the 1907 setup.
My daughter shoots a 1912 (a 1907 in a 1912 sport rifle stock) and a 2002 ALU CA, and she likes how the settings are very similar.
The best advise I ever got was to buy the best you can afford ... you'll always be able to get back at least 80% of what you put into it if you ever sell it.
(I've never had "buyer's remorse" when I've purchased a real quality gun)

I would avoid a pneumatic rifle for a junior. I had a 2002 pneumatic for a while. Great gun. I figured I would keep it as a loaner to use with our jr. program. Noone ever would use it because for the 10-14 year olds it was too hard to cock. Also, if 3p air is at all in his future then cocking the rifle in prone is very difficult. I do agree that used is a good way to go though. Either a 2002 or a P70. The club stocks are intended to be a middle of the road decent but not perfect option. Club rifles are always that way. For a personal rifle you should get one with the better stock.
