Concave target crown

Can anybody in the Forum help me with my query regarding crowning the rifle barrel.
Recently at a club meeting we discussed the crowning of the rifle barrel and two of our members who are engineers have recrowned their barrels.
They have machined the crown from the center out at an angle of 16degrees.

I would appreciate comments and advice on this procedure and angles that other shooters may have tried.

We are all using Anschutz rifles.

Bob: from all the reading I have done it seems that the exact shape of the crown does not matter. The main purpose in making it concave or recessed is to prevent small dings right where the bullet exits. The other important feature is that the muzzle be nearly perfectly perpendicular to the bore and if there is a small chamfer at the muzzle it must be perfectly concentric with the bore. The idea is to have the bullet exit cleanly and evenly.

Back in the day when I was shooting competitive benchrest the crowns were square with the bore (90 degrees), but since then I have read that the NRA was recommending an 11 degree crown. I ordered my latest (hunting) barrel with that. The match rifle building gunsmith did not look at me funny when I asked for it.
