is there any difference between the 162 ei and ea? other than one is older?

Same thing, different language.

I am pretty sure that both designations were available with the old battery module as well as the newer AAA version.

Right said. EA is used in German speaking countries (Ei in German means Egg). I think this is the reason for these two different suffixes of CM162.

I recently purchased a new 162 through a Gehmann dealer who listed the pistol as an EA and put EA on the receipt but the Pistol is marked EI. It has the AAA batteries.

So I'm with David and Matvei

EI = Electronic Interchangable (cylinders, on the first models they where fixed)

EA = E... Abtauschbar (german for interchangable)
