IZH-46 minimum trigger weight?

Post by Benjamin »

I know someone with a new IZH-46 air pistol. The instruction book says not to adjust the trigger pull weight to less than 24 ounces. This seems strange, since the international standard is 500 grams which is about 17 ounces. I didn't measure the present adjustment yet. Is there some good reason to set the trigger heavy?

In my experience with the 46 and 46 m's, the 46's gernerally have about a 2 pund trigger and I have experienced no problem adjusting them closer to the 500g minimum. The 46m's tend to be well under the 500 g minimum and I have had to adjust these up and have experienced no problems doing this. I have heard of one person that turned all the screws in and experienced the problem of the gun discharging upon closing the bolt. I would think the manual is tring to say 'don't overdo it as you might make the gun unsafe!' un suggesting you keep the trigger heavy.
