ISSF RULES CHANGE OY TEEMA LINE LTD © 2006

Dear Shooter,
ISSF has updated some of the rifle rules. See:
www.issf-shooting.org/rules/amendments

WHAT HAS HAPPENED?
ISSF has changed some interpretations and clarified the old rules. There is now a new rule for the waistband part of the shooting pants, 7.4.7.9.1.
(Concerns only waistband part of pants, rules for the rest of the pants seem to be unchanged, at least today).

1. DO I HAVE TO REPAIR MY PANTS?
Not if:
1.1 You only shoot on local level without strict ISSF style pants control then this will normally not affect you at all and you need not to do anything.
1.2 If you do not participate in ISSF style/rules competitions.
1.3 If the pants serial number is 251302 or higher, the waistband part is 2.5mm and according to the new rule. Then you can stop reading here.
If the serial number is 251301 or lower, the pants have a waistband with thickness over 3.5mm. Then you need to go on reading below.

3. OK, I NEED TO REPAIR, WHAT DOES THE NEW RULE SAY?
There are two possibilities:
3.1 If you do not use a belt (=you use braces or nothing) then the new maximum thickness is 3.5mm.
3.2 If you use a separate belt then the new maximum waistband thickness is only 2.5mm.

4. HOW TO REPAIR?
4.1 You want a waistband under 3.5mm (= you use braces or nothing)
Open the outside upper seams for all five belt loops. The metal rings for the braces will then come off. Fig 1 & 2.
Open the waistband’s outside lower visible seam from the outside. Fig. 3 & 4.
A few cm going over the waistband velcro is needed to be opened, too. Fig 5.
Now the corduroy material inside the waistband is loose in it’s lower edge. Fig. 6.
Under the corduroy there is a white double off-white canvas reinforcement. Fig. 7.
You need to cut away one layer of this off-white canvas with sharp scissors close to the seam. The other layer off off-white canvas stay in it’s place. Fig. 8. Taking away one layer of canvas makes the waistband about 3mm thick.
Then make a new seam in the lower edge of the waistband under the belt loops all around the pants. With this seam you fasten the corduroy in it’s lower edge (=inside the pants). Fig. 9.
Then put back the rings for the braces inside the belt loops and fasten the belt loops with new short seams. Fig. 10. There should be metal rings in the two belt loops in the front and one in the middle belt loop in the back.

If the pants are sent to OY TEEMA LINE LTD to do this work we charge ½ hour of work plus shipping costs.

4.2 You want a waistband under 2.5mm. (= you use a belt)
There are two possibilities.
4.2.1 Do according to 4.1 above but instead of taking away one canvas reinforcement you must take away the two inside off-white canvas reinforcements. The waistband will now be under 2.5mm but rather soft. First test to shoot with a separate belt. If your feeling is good then everything is ok. If the waistband still feels too thin or too soft you need to go on with 4.2.2.
4.2.2 The complete waistband has to be replaced with a new one. If you can do this yourself we will send necessary materials: Rifle Pants Waistband Repair Kit for 8 EUR + VAT + shipping costs. Pants Waistband Repair Kit for the 2.5mm thickness waistband consists of: outside material+lining+inside material+velcro horizontal part. The off-white canvas lining in the Repair Kit should be used single not double as was done in the old waistband. A 2.5mm waistbelt is much easier to make new than trying to use parts from the old waistband (belt loops+metal rings are still used). The construction of the waistband can be seen from the old one in the pants. Remember to tell colour needed.

5. CAN OY TEEMA LINE LTD DO THIS REPAIR?
Yes. But the pants has to be sent to us by a Registered Dealer. We charge 1 hour of work + Rifle Pants Waistband Repair Kit for 8 EUR + VAT + shipping costs. Your dealer need to know two things:
5.1 The production number of your pants. When informing us of the production number the dealer receive a Repair Number for your pants. Without the Repair Number we can NOT handle the pants.
5.2 If you want your pants to be in the waist 2.5mm (=you will use a belt) or 3.5mm (=you use braces or nothing).

6. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND HOW LONG TIME DOES IT TAKE?
As the ISSF has changed the interpretation of the rule which has been used over twenty (20) years as well as the rule Oy Teema Line Ltd. do not take responsibility for the cost of or the troubles for adjusting old pants. We need the pants 4-5 working days in the factory.
These Instructions are only valid for rifle shooting pants produced by OY TEEMA LINE LTD.

Best Regards,
OY TEEMA LINE LTD.
