WHATS THE BEST TRIGGER SET UP FOR RF SHOOTING
HI, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU EXPERTS WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST OR MOST USED TRIGGER SET UP FOR RAPID FIRE, I JUST GOT MY NEW RAPID FIRE PARDINI SP WITH THE MECHANICAL TRIGGER AND WANT TO HAVE THE BEST SET UP POSSIBLE.
THANK YOU,
JIGMEB

This is my personal preference:
*2 stages
*First about 2-400 gram, at least 3 mm of movement
*Second stage 1050 gram
*No trigger stop, at least 3 mm of possible movement before stop of trigger
Mechanism should be able to reconnect just when trigger is let off and passes trigger point. It should not force the shooter to return the 3 mm movement before the trigger point. So actually not a 2 stage setup, more like a 1 stage with a spring preload 3 mm free play

I will second Par's comments. The only difference is that I like to have a trigger stop after the second stage, limiting the second stage travel to almost none.
By the way, both the MG-2 and AW-93 triggers can be set up as Par mentioned, so that for the second shot all one has to do is let the trigger move forward to the beginning of the second stage travel. This eliminates the extra time and movement that would be required if one had to let the trigger return all the way to the beginning of the first stage travel.

I agree regarding time and travel after the shot is released. However, I choose to not have it beacuse I have the impression that a non perfect pull moves the pistol more if I have a trigger stop. I think that I use a rather fluent movement of the trigger/triggerfinger and when shooting the 4 sec series I do not really go to the second stage and increase pressure, I rather pull the trigger through the second stage instantanously. This methods works for me, but I am not sure if it works for everybody.Mark Briggs wrote: By the way, both the MG-2 and AW-93 triggers can be set up as Par mentioned, so that for the second shot all one has to do is let the trigger move forward to the beginning of the second stage travel.
RF SHOOTING TRIGGER SET UP
HI, THANK YOU FOR THE INFO, I THINK ITS KIND OF DIFFICULT TO SET THE TRIGGER THE WAY YOU SUGGEST BUT I WILL TRY.
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF INSTEAD OF HAVING A LITE FIRST STAGE WE PUT 100GRAMS ON IT AND LET THE SECOND STAGE BE LIGHT DONT YOU THINK IT WOULD IMPROVE ACCURACY?
THANKS AGAIN,
JIGMEB.

Jig - if you don't put sufficient weight on the 2nd stage you will find your pistol may shoot like it's fully automatic (a machine gun). This is no fault of the pistol, but rather is an inability of the shooter to control recoil. With a very light second stage the recoil from the first shot will cause the shooter's finger to move a little bit and will cause the second shot to be fired without the shooter even knowing his finger pulled the trigger through the second stage. I say this from experience because my MG-2 was set up with a 50 gram 2nd stage when I got it. It didn't take me long to determine that the gun wasn't malfunctioning, because I added weight to the 2nd stage and have never had a problem since.
As for Par's comment about not having a trigger overtravel stop, maybe I should experiment a little more with that concept...

I try to do that in my pardini sp new trigger but i dont have sucess.Mark Briggs wrote:I will second Par's comments. The only difference is that I like to have a trigger stop after the second stage, limiting the second stage travel to almost none.

Can you explain me step by step what should i do to to have my trigger ready to shoot om the beginning of the second stage travel?
Thanks
Trigger settings, - the ultimate!
To Paer and others: I would suggest a triggerstopp after the first stage, BTW.
SP trigger
Hi,
Would also be interested in suggestions how to make the SP1 RF electronic perform the way Mark en Par describe. If someone has tried this, please share this with us. Personally I also prefer the two stage / crisp setup, but the factory setting is a long (an rather heavy) roll.
Cheers,
Bob

trigger
Hi,
Just had an infuriating weekend trying to get my trigger set up as Par and others suggested. Doesn’t work with an electronic Pardini RF. I got a slightly outdated manual with the pistol (apparently they focus more on the gun than on the documentation). Tried to get to the back of the trigger mech by taking the grip of, only to discover no screws! If fact they placed some rather sticky red tape on the back to discourage people like me to go any further. So as far as I can see: no 2 stages, no crisp trigger on the electronic RF model. Admittedly a rolling trigger is fine for RF, but I intend to use the pistol for Standard Pistol as well.
If anyone has suggestions, please let me know!

RAPID FIRE TRIGGER SET UP
HI:
ITS ME AGAIN, WHEN I PUT MY FIRST POST ASKING HOW TO SET UP THE TRIGGER FOR RAPID FIRE I JUST NEEDED TO KNOW SOME BASIC THINGS LIKE TRIGGER WEIGHT AND THE BASICS, NOW I REALLY DONT HAVE A CLUE ON WHAT TO DO BECAUSE I STILL DONT GET HOW TO MAKE THE TRIGGER A ONE STAGE TRIGGER AND SECOND WE ALL ARE USING THE SAME PISTOL FOR RF AND STANDARD SHOOTING AND I DONT THINK ANY BODY IS GOING TO BE CHANGING THE TRIGGER SET UP FOR EACH MATCH, SO WHAT IS EVERY ONE DOING WITH THEIR TRIGGERS A COMBINATION OF BOTH? I DONT THINK SO.
THANK YOU,
JIGMEB.

Firstly, jig, please turn off the capitalization. You're making my ears hurt with all that shouting! ;-)
Secondly, some of us DO have one pistol that we use only for RF, and another one that we would use for another event.
My MG-2 is setup with a very crisp 2-stage trigger with no overtravel. This trigger is very nice for RF work. Fortunately for me it is also my preferred setup for Standard and Sport Pistol events, so this gun, although used almost entirely for RF, is capable of doing all the events. My Feinwerkbau isn't very kind to me in the RF event so it has been tuned for the precision events where it excels.
I would suggest that you play with your trigger and find a compromise that works well for you in all events which you shoot with that gun. Get to know your trigger very, very well, and once you're done playing with the settings, leave them there. Never ever play with trigger settings before a match - it's guaranteed to cost you points, or at least erode your confidence.

Please explain why you suggust that.tseuG wrote:To Paer and others: I would suggest a triggerstopp after the first stage, BTW.

Triggerstop at end of 1. stage....
To Paer:
Ha!
No, that suggestion need no explanation....Please explain why you suggust that.

Silly me, I just thought it was a language issue...tseuG wrote:To Paer:No, that suggestion need no explanation....Please explain why you suggust that.

Ha!
However, with or without humor, I will stick to my setup without triggerstop since it seems to be a winning method... 586 2005
RF trigger set up
Hi:
First of all I want to thank all the people that gave me tips on how to set up my trigger.
I have one more question, what if I minimize the first stage travel to almost none and make the second stage travel a little longer and with about 1000 gr. making it feel like a short one stage trigger? this way there is no stopping the trigger finger or in other words feeling a trigger stop in the middle of the shot.
Again please I am just trying to find out what works.
Thank you,
Jigmeb.

Jig - what you are talking about doing, making the first stage very short and very light, is about the only way that you can make a single stage trigger on some pistols (like the AW-93).
There's one important note in this conversation that has to be emphasized and that is that trigger setup is highly personal. What I like and find to be the "best" may feel like the worst trigger in the world to you. This being the case I would strongly suggest that you play with the trigger settings until you get something that feels good to you, then shoot it that way for a while. You may find after a few hundred shots that it's not quite right, and a little tweaking here or there is needed. You might also find that it's simply unworkable and you'll have to try a completely new setup. This is the process which many of us here have tried. I personally have had a national champion advise me on trigger setup, and found that I just can't seem to shoot well with it set up the way he advised. Since then I've found my own way. You'll likely have to find your own way, too!
