Not many people outside of the US understand what Thanksgiving is all about.

Greetings to all who are celebrating it.

Fleeing european political and religious oppression, "pilgims" from northwestern europe emigrated to the littoral areas of north america.

Wishing to establish an egalitarian utopia, they formed a socialist compact wherein all property was treated as public property "to be employed in the common weal."

After just about starving to death because nobody had any motivation to toil "for the common weal" (see modern day agricultural piracy in Mugabe's Zimbabwe vs. Angolan capitalist reforms), they gave up on their socialist utopia and everyone built fences and claimed private ownership of individual plots of arable land.

Voila!

As if by magic, the second year harvest was so abundant they became net exporters of food products; indeed, they held a Great (and mythical) Feast with their aboriginal indigenous neighbors from whom they stole the land in the first place and were about to oppress (but that's a different story).

So around the mid 20th century poultry farmers and unionists (wishing to take another couple of days of production out of the work calendar) got together- Capitalists and Socialists Unite, You Have Nothing To Lose But Your Waistline- and decided to honor this mythical triumph of private property rights over wishful thinking and declared a commemorative feast day.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

That was absolutely hysterical! I'm looking forward to the Chirstmas episode.
