What's the better sight line length?

For standing Air Rifle, what is the better sight line length; shorter or longer? I know max is 850mm but does that put to much weight on the muzzle. Has anyone experimented with this?

longer sight base more wobble (summat to do with physics) - more wobble the better you try - the better you try the better the score

It is down to what you want to shoot with though - if you feel comfortable with the longer sight base - us it!

The longer sight radius will show more movement than a shorter sight radius. Typically beginners will do better with a short sight radius because they do not notice the sight movement as much. Sight alignment is much more important in terms of accuracy. Top shooters learn to accept the movement and concentrate on the alignment and trigger pull. You will never be able to stop the movement.

There were several posts a while back that talked about sight alignment and sight movement. Try a search and you will come up with several. Steve Swartz and David Levene have both posted concerning this topic.

I always made mine as long as possible, which was a pretty standard length since I didn't use any sort of extension tube. The real secret is using the proper front aperture size!

just how do you determine the proper front aperature size. I have heard everything from big to small

Start witha 4.0 or 4.2 then try a little larger or smaller to see how it looks. The bull should take up 1/2 to 2/3 of the room in the front aperture. Don't get the aperture too small.
