Hill Country Update

Post by Jack Burch »

Construction is nearing completion on the 50 meter dirt work. Within two weeks the berm and flat deck of that range will be complete and ready for us to start the range building with completion by the end of 2005.

The pad is started for the Air Hall.

The trap bunkers will be started on 1 July with the blasting of the rock. By 1 November all five bunkers will be complete as well as the five skeet fields.

Our plan is to have a PTO in the month of November to test the shotgun equipment.

As soon as I figure out how to add pictures they will be posted here.

Apologies for my ignorance but where is 'Hill Country' ? I guess I'm highly unlikely to visit it but you never know.

Rob.

P.S. What ranges and disciplines is the facility for ?

Hill Country Shooting Sports is a few miles west of Austin, the Texas State capital.

The facility has entered in an agreement with USA Shooting to serve as a major hub of ISSF sports in the US. The current plans include facilities for all ISSF rifle, pistol, and shotgun disciplines except for 300 meter rifle.

I believe that a significant portion of the equipment abandoned at the Wolf Creek Olympic shooting center in Atlanta, Georgia, has been salvaged for use at Hill Country.

Jack:

When can we expect to see Air and Free Pistol PTOs? I'm down in Austin on a regular basis and would love to be able to bring my guns next time . . .

(Well, to shoot a MATCH, of course!)

Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, Inc. is located 6o Miles west of San Antonio, Texas near Kerrville.

We will have a 50 meter rifle venue which will host 80 points, a 25 meter pistol venue which will host 8 bays of 5 targets each, and air hall with 80 points, 5 bunker traps and 5 skeet fields.

ASAP on the free pistol and air.
