Hammerli history
I just bought a mint Hammerli model 101 free pistol and couldn't find anything on the net with regards to the history, years of production or other data on these fine pistols. Is there a book or website that specializes in these firearms? Thanks.

G'day,
Don't know dates but I owned a Hammerli 104 which John Gilman (Australia) used in the Olympics back in the 1970's. Excellent gun but spares are now becoming a real problem. Not that it uses many parts but things like main springs do go. The series 101 - 106 as I remember use a lot of the same parts. I had a 105 trigger in the 104 which was a better device.
Best bloke I know of in the world for Hammerli knowledge and support is Larry from Larry's Guns. http://www.hammerli-us.com/

Hammerli
Most gun value guides (Blue Book of Gun Values etc.) list the years of production for each model and a very brief description of the changes from model to model. Go to your library or many Borders / Barnes have them. I know the Hammerli 101-106 pistols are listed in the Blue Book and in the other value guide I have at home because I recently looked up the 106. I don't remember the dates.
