Walther KK100
Looking for anyone with experience shooting the Walther KK100.
I have a 12 year old daughter who is shooting 3P small bore and air. She already has a P70 jr for an air rifle. With the P70 she's shooting about 480 in a 3x20. Her small bore scores are much worse.
She's been using a club gun for small bore. Started with an Anschutz Acheiver. Now she's using an older Anschutz of the clubs, can't remember if it's a 54 or 64. But being a club gun she can't take it home, we can't modify it, and being the older model the only adjustment is the but plate and sling. Can't adjust the cheek piece.
A couple of other coaches have recomended the Anschutz 1912. They're pretty pricey.

I would like to hear some feedback as well- they sure look good in the pictures.
My daughter is 13 and her arms and legs are pretty spindly. I know there is no way she could handle a 1912 at this point. She has been shooting a 1803. Last year I bought an anschutz 1613 barreled action where the barrel had been fluted. Originally I bought it just for the action but the thing shoots pretty good and when put in a 1907 stock it weights about 9.5 lb with sights. I think I am going to try to migrate her to this rifle this summer. We have had a few dryfire sessions with this fluted 1907 and the weight and balance seems about right.
The trouble is at this stage they will probably be ready for a 1912 in a few years but i know at least in my daugter's case she isn't yet.

This is a little off topic, but how much weight did the fluting shave off the 1613 barrelled action? And how many flutes?
I shoot a 1413 right now, and even though I'm a decent-sized guy (5'11", 195 lbs), I find it a bit much. All that weight in the barrel is why I don't shoot 3-P.
Don't forget, you could always just buy your daughter an aluminum stock, as the 1613 action will just drop in.

Jason: I can't remember the exact weight of my fluted 1613 barreled action but it was 1 lb lighter than the barreled action out of my unmodified 1907. The barrel has 5 flutes that are about 1/4" wide and about as deep.
I would not recommend fluting to you. My interest in it is as a transition rifle for a 13 year old. It is a bit light to suit my taste. My experience is the same as yours and I have found the '07 weight barrels to suit me better. If I were you I would try to find someone who has a 1907, 1807, or 1407 and try that barreled action in your rifle just for feel. If you like it then have the barrel changed on yours to the lighter '07 weight barrel. You can either find a takeoff or have a new barrel fitted.

So the fluting removed too much weight from the barrel? Can't this be controlled by calculating the depth, length and number of flutes?
As an aside, did they affect accuracy at all (good or bad)? What was the cost?
Jason
Jason: The other part about fluting that I did not mention, because I don't know a lot about it, is that it can affect accuracy. Seems to me I have read that when you flute the barrel you might adversely affect accuracy. I think this has been discussed here (on the old board) and on www.benchrest.com. Benchrest.com can be searched so have a look there in the rimfire forum section. Anyway, it seems to me a more predictable result will be had by getting a different barrel of the correct weight.
As you say though if you were to flute the barrel you could simply cut less out of the flutes.

Another note for those looking for something lighter. There are two very interesting looking auctions on auctionarms.com right now. One is I think a 1607 (light barreled action that would fit into a 1413 stock) and one is an 1803 (good rifle for a 13 year old). Both appear as new. These are not mine and I have nothing to do with them other than they tempt me.
OLD topic, I know, just for you lads wanting to know more about the KK100, I own 1. So for info, you can always contact me.
The KK100 actually is a:
- walther stock+trigger
- baikal barrel
- and a CZ452 actionblock
Thats why it waso much cheaper than Anschutz etc these days! They're VERY rare nowadays. There are accuracy issues known with some of the baikal barrels, but nót with mine..
