Smallbore Buttplate Case Recommendations
I currently store my smallbore buttplates in old soft pistol cases and have been told that is a horrible idea, especially since I will be shooting NCAA rifle next year and there is a lot of traveling. I am at a loss for what type/style of case I should get. What are your recommendations for buttplate cases to fit in my Ogio 9800 with the rest of my gear and sights? Due to limited space in my current Pelican case, I want to keep my buttplates separate from my rifle. I have 3 buttplates, I am up to separate cases or one case for all 3

Re: Smallbore Buttplate Case Recommendations
My Opinion:
I'm a fan of removing the buttplate(s). Then you can fit in a 44" case like the IM3200. The longer cases usually won't fit in the back seat of a rental car....
If you are looking at NCAA then getting your Air Rifle and the Smallbore in the same case is possible -
OK so you take them off - now what? The pistol cases are OK, there are also padded cases from Anschutz & others that will hold all three that you'll be able to then put in your roller case.
I'd re-look at the 9800 roller - I know a 9600 weighs 15lb empty ... thus reducing your carrying capacity ... weigh the 9800. You can cram in lots of stuff, but what is it you really need to keep under 50 lbs?
If the rifle case is under 50lbs ... what can you shift into it. Some teams carry their rifles in soft cases inside the hard case.
Oh - PS... I usually recommend to my shooters that they get a smaller handgun case (one of the triangular jobs) and remove their rifle sights as well.
A snicker - an NCAA rifle coach travels so much thaty are probably on a plan where they can easily have more than 1 checked bag. Some coaches haul a 9600 to stuff in more of their rifle shooters stuff.
