Smallbore Rifle Options

Post by Hiviloz »

Looking to upgrade to a new smallbore gun eventually. I would like to be still able to use all of the Anschutz accessories that I have acquired over the years. I have heard of putting a Walther or Bleiker action in the Anschutz 2018 stock. Or going the route of buying a turbo 3p build. What are all of your thoughts?
Thanks,
J

Some of this will also depend on which accessories you are talking about:

Anything for the foreend rail will transfer to other manufacturers guns. While there are subtle differences, the rear sight rail for all the guns is 11mm so rear sights are fairly universal. (There are some oddball cases that don't play well but you are usually OK) For front sights, Anschutz, Walther and FWB are all different so you might be stuck there. I am not sure what Bleiker or G&E are doing for their front sight mount so you will be stuck there.

As far as butt carriers and cheek carriers: everyone seems to have different carriers and sometime the same manufacturer will have different carriers depending on which stock you have so you are likely stuck there.... with the exception of Turbo I think. Turbo was designed with the idea that all (or most of the Anschutz PRECISE accessories would fit. Not sure right now if Turbo is still making Turbos.

With regard to butt plates and cheek pieces: some will transfer very quickly from one brands carrier to another, sometimes it does take a little ingenuity. Same goes with cheek pieces. Factory cheek pieces are usually OK but I kinda like experimenting with my own.

As far as new rifles, they are all good and will all outshoot most of us. They are all also insanely expensive. Yes, you do seem to get something for the extra cost of a Bleiker or G&E, the Swiss build wonderful guns. They are also the most insane, wonderful but yeah, insanely expensive.
