Butt plate for Walther KK300 alu

Post by MartinF »

Hi, I am considering trying the butt plate from Bleiker on my Walther KK300 Alu, but I'm wondering if it will fit with my current mounting setup. Currently, I have the original butt plate from MEC, which is secured to the stock with a two-rod system. However, this setup isn't very stable and sometimes moves slightly. Do you have any experience with this type of upgrade or change?

Martin,

Do you mean the connection between the MEC butt and the extension rods moves, or the rods move in the stock?

I've not tried this, but I'm fairly sure you'll have to use the Walther extension rods. Bleiker use a cartridge/ratchet extension, so you can't swap thus onto the Walther (not without a lot of machining and welding I expect). Either the Bleiker will bolt onto the Walther rods, or you'll need an adaptor.

Thanks, Tim, for your quick reply. I mean, the rods move in the stock. It was not an issue for the first 8-10 years, but now I have noticed that there are some slight/minimal moves when I put pressure on the butt plate in my shoulder.

Martin,
I have a 300 Anatomic, the butt mounting system has similarities but not identical to your 300 Alu.

For your rifle, the MEC plate mounts the two pins (probably 10mm dia) directly to the base of the butt plate.

My solution would be to start with a piece of 1/4" (6mm) aluminum plate and attach the two mounting pins to that (probably with flat head screws). Then you would have a pretty clean surface to mount the new butt plate to. It helps if you or a friend has some basic machining skills.

The secret is starting with some flat plate and getting it to do what you want as opposed to trying to kluge something together from existing parts.

Just a thought, but have you tightened the bolts holding the MEC butt to the rods recently. I use a System Gemini stock, which has a very similar attachment method (2 X 12mm rods held by M5 socket head bolts). The bolts can work loose, especially if not well tightened.

Thanks, everyone. I’ll try your solution soon @justadude . :)

Tim - I’ve checked everything, including this one. The movement appears to occur on the holding screw that catches the rods to the KK300 stock.
