Cylinder date
Dumb question. My Hammerli AP-20 Pro cylinder has "good until: 05/028" etched onto it. How do I read that date?
Re: Cylinder date
It means that if you try to shoot a match after May 2028 with that cylinder, a judge will order a bailiff to whack your peepee.
Re: Cylinder date
Thanks! I need a good laugh this AM. :)
To Evansmount: I will say it was 15 years ago, ISSF decided that air cylinders more than ten years old were a public safety hazard. The net result was a decision that they would 'expire' after 10 years. So, as Rover has said, go to a match, if someone is looking they will whack your peepee and tell you you cannot shoot the match with that cylinder and make you go beg, buy or steal one that is in date.
Your cylinder will likely be fine but you will not be able to use it in competition after 5/28.
I have two expired cylinders I use on my Feinwerkbau for practice / training. They are very clearly (obnoxiously) marked so I don't screw up and take one to a match and end up begging, borrowing, buying or stealing one that is in date. I also avoid a bruise peepee. I keep my 'good' 'in date' cylinders in a protective case except when they go to matches. If I drop or otherwise damage an expired cylinder in training I don't have to feel anywhere near as bad about it as I would if it were a fresh 'in date' cylinder.
There you go!

May 2028. You will not be able to use it in international competitions after that. In natiinal competitions there may be exceptions added by the federations (this rule is not enforced in Belgium).
As long as you are the one doing the filling, almost nobody cares. Be sure not to over charge it passed the 200 bar.

One more thing. At most matches, no one will check or care. You'll soon find out which those are.
