How much less accurate is the Steyr LP50 due to the trigger?

Post by T0nnage »

Am deciding between a secondhand Steyr LP50 and LP2 for primarily practising 10m target shooting.

I don't need the multi-shot ability but it'll be fun to have the option however I've heard various things about the LP50 trigger not being as good as a single-shot pistol.

What I'm trying to work out is how much difference this makes to the accuracy: e.g. with the same person shooting, what drop off in accuracy or score would you get from the LP50 over a EVO10 or LP2?

It's not as good as the Evo but once you get used to it, I doubt it will affect your accuracy.

I shoot a Morini 200 EI and an LP50 with a heavy trigger for Bullseye sustained fire training. The difference in trigger is pretty stark. I suppose you could get used to it, but if my focus was 10m, I'd go with the LP2 or LP10 hands down.

Thanks everyone, yeah I did read that thread about the LP50 trigger half a dozen times before posting :-)

I've decided to go for the LP50 as it'll offer flexibility.

Now I just need to get a size large grip in the UK; will make a new post asking about aftermarket grips.

Seems like a primo opportunity for a competing product with a good trigger. FWB P85 anyone?

Wouldn't the fit of the pellet carrier have more influence in precision ?

I have an LP50, and have never noticed the slightest hint that it might produce lower scores than with my Morini or LP10. If you put it in a rest, you might see a slightly larger group, and I think the test targets would show that. As a practical matter, the difference is negligible.

If the concern is damage to the pellets from misalignment of the magazine with the barrel in the LP50, I wouldn't worry about it:
