Cheapest (as you know) is a SSP since it needs no accessories. Just about anything would be better (I speak from experience).
You can also get top quality used CO2 guns for not much money (Walther, Pardini, Steyr}.
Good luck with your search@

Hey you guys looking at this, let him know what you have cheap.

OK guys, thanks for the advise but I am a experience airgunner who is looking for a cheap pistol to give to a kid with no money. I shoot a EVO10 and a K12. I have owned Gamo compacts before and they do shoot and are cheap.

A Beeman P17 is a good alternative, rock-bottom priced ssp pistol for a kid.

The cocking stroke is stiffer than the Gamo Compact, but manageable if you got the proper technique.

A big downside of the V10/Compact is, if you dry fire the pistol alot, you risk damaging the hammer mechanism.

I guess you should have hung onto that Daisy 717 you sold a while back.

I will try a modification to reduce the cocking effort of the P17.
