Burris 1x scope from Gil Heber

Post by Tucker625 »

Was there anything special about the Burris 1x pistol scope Gi Heber sold for bullseye in the 80’s & 90’s? See one for sale and want to know about it. Parallax free?? One of the top area bullseye shooters used one in the 90’s when everyone else used red dots. Thanks, Larry

The reticle is an 8 MOA dot, if I remember correctly. Supposedly the size of the 10 ring on a 25/50 yard target. I used them for years, and they worked well when I had younger eyes... My son and a couple of other local shooters still use them.

Most were 1X, but there are some 2X versions.

I still have 3 of them...

Thanks, the one sale is a 1x with fine crosshairs and a dot in the center. I thought they had no paralox like others to make it easier to align on the Bullseye. Friend sold me a 1x burris with a duplex crosshair and looks to actually magnify a little. Didn't think I would find someone that used them way back then. Larry

Greetings,

From my Gil Hebard Guns Catalog #36...

1X is actually 1.1X magnification. Zero parallax at 50 yards. 14ft field of view at 50 yards. 10"-28" eye relief. 1/3" clicks at 50 yards. 1" tube diameter.
8 oz weight. 8 3/4" long. 7 3/4 minute dot. Max internal adjustment 35" at 50 yards.

If the dot is in the black when the shot is fired, you will have a ten. (With good ammo, of course.)

Made by Burris for Gil Hebard. Not sure if Burris will honor the lifetime warranty. However, the magazine does say "Lifetime warranty."

Cheers,

Dave

Wow, I sure butchered Gil’s last name. Thanks Dave for the info directly from the Hebard catalog. I knew they were special for bullseye shooters. Gonna buy the one with the fine crosshairs and the center dot from Gill Hebard. Mentioned this to a friend and he had a Burris 1x with a duplex crosshair, it’s in that basement. Gonna check it to see if the eye relief is the same as the Hebard one. Thanks, Larry

Greetings,

The Hebard catalog also listed the Burris 1X with the Duplex crosshairs. It stated it was essentially the same scope.

I have one or two Burris scopes. They are nicely made.

Cheers

Dave
