Looks like a Vostok Margolin/MCM with a barrel weight.

No idea what it is, but I am pretty sure it is not Margolin. Or a heavily-butchered one that lost its hammer?

It hides behind the hump of the grip.

This is a MTsU-U, a Margolin in .22 Short reworked by sport pistol armourers in Suhl, in Eastern Germany back in the day for the Olympic Rapid Fire event. This modified Margolin was used by the Polish RF shooter, Jozef Zapedski to win gold medals in the 1968 and 1972 Olympics. He narrowly lost a third in 1976 due to dud ammunition. Jozef passed away quite recently.

It is an interesting development of the Margolin in order to lower the barrel line in relation to the grip. I found one in Germany, bought it and imported it to Australia. It garnered a lot of interest amongst the Margolin nuts down under - and there are many. A nice pistol to shoot but no longer permissible under current ISSF rules.
