AP20 Pro Cylinder on Regular AP20?

Post by Gwhite »

The college team I help coach has 26 AP20's we use for the new shooters. We have a SCATT trainer, but the mounting system for the sensor is designed for regular skinny air pistol cylinders, and won't fit the fat, gauge-less AP20 cylinders. One option (if they fit) would be to get a skinny AP20 Pro cylinder which is the usual smaller diameter, just for use with the SCATT. I haven't bene able to confirm if the mounting/fill interface is the same, or if it's different.

Does anyone know for certain, or can someone point me to documentation that verifies one way or another if this will work? I checked the Hammerli/Walther website, but I could only find the manual for the AP20, not the Pro.

This claims the fill adapter for the AP20 also fills LP400 & LP500 cylinders: https://www.opticsplanet.com/walther-20 ... -ap20.html. That suggests the cylinder interface is the same.

This says the AP20 Pro cylinder fits "LP400, LP500, & AP20 PRO model air pistols only.": http://www.champchoice.com/store/Main.a ... em=2776073 , which contradicts the fill adapter info.

Does anyone actually have any first hand experience with this?

Thanks!

They are listed as an accessory for the Hammerli AP20 pistols, on the Walther website. Also, in section 10 of the manual.

We are also using several of the AP20’s.

Perfect! Thanks!

Now I just have to find a good place to buy one. Champions' Choice had some old (2013) cylinders for $50, but they sold out...

Tec-Hro has been making their own version of these cylinders for about two years, at a reduced price. For your desired use that seems to make good sense.

You will need to contact them directly, to order for the Walther AP-20. They do not show them available, but will make them. Walther AP-20 cylinders run about $215 in the US. The 10,9 branded cylinders run about $90, according to the website, and that includes VAT

I have ordered from Tec-Hro in the past two months. Actual delivery of in stock items took 7 days, to the states.

Thanks! I'll look into it. We need some other slightly obscure cylinders (like Hammerli AP40's), so we could place an order for multiple cylinders to spread out the shipping costs.
