A welcome refresh - benelli case

Post by Rudi »

I was never a fan of the ultra skinny pistol cases, I like the width, but never how much top to bottom space they have. When I bought my 30 year old benelli last year it had a slim case, with some of the worst foam I’d seen. Within a week it was replaced with one that was just as wide, but 3 or 4 cm taller.
Skip forward to last week, I pulled out the 30 year old case again which was scratch and spot free outside , took Mr Whites advice on good foam removal and put my laser cutter to good use with some eva50 foam for the main and a lighter lid foam.
A hand made pin pusher, grip adjustment hex and sight adjustment tool later and I’m pretty happy to share the results.

Now this is how a pistol case should look!

Where did you get the foam?

The foam is available in a lot of places.
The lid foam is from a music store (sound insulation), about 2,50 Euro for 100x50cm. It's a lighter foam, about 2cm thick. Not as bumpy as a typical egg-box type, but just bumpy and soft enough to have enough give when closing the lid and to hold in the tools and mags.
The main body is an EVA-50 rated density , not soft, but definitely not hard, cuts well and lasts a long time. I've seen it on amazon, but I was able to buy a 50X100cm sheet from another local laser cutter who has better suppliers than me. It was about 20 Euros for 0.5 m2, and I can get 6 of my wide cases from it.

Since I always forget if I last set my sights to 10 or 25 meters, engraved the numbers and added a little marker on the sight adjustment tool .

That’s genius! Just don’t forget to turn the marker to the right range!
