Margolin Orthopaedic Grips Available Again
Good news for all you Margolin owners out there. Denes Marschalko of Marschal Grips (https://www.marschalgrips.com) has started making them again after a hiatus of some years. He will make them in 85, 90, 95 and 100mm across the palm. I asked for my two 95mm grips to be made in walnut with a linseed oiled finish. I believe that there might be other wood and finish choices. There was a bit of a wait until Denes was able to get round to making them on his CNC machine. He currently has a 10-16 weeks waiting list on grips, most of which are two piece sides for conventional 9mm style semi-autos.
I placed my order with Denes on 4 January via Messenger (which we’ve been using to communicate - he's on Facebook) and my order was shipped from Budapest on 12 March, arriving here in Sydney on 27 March. The cost was US$140 each plus US$9 shipping (per order), i.e. US$289 all up. Very good value, though having been through the exercise of making my two grips, Denes might be rethinking his pricing. Get your order in quickly and you may still get the same pricing as me. He's also thinking about developing a simpler model that will be easier to machine with obviously an impact on price. All depends on orders.
The grips fitted my Margolins with just a little jiggling to get the grip screw holes to align with the frame holes, but nothing serious, and minor adjustments to screw lengths to avoid pinching or trapping the magazines. Denes said that he could not fit the his pistol into the ISSF size box without thinning down the palm rest and lopping a bit of the heal off the grip. This does not worry me as, at this stage, I will not be using my Margolins in serious competition. I feel sure though, that getting the pistol/grip combination to fit could not be too hard.
The grips feel full in my hand and my 2nd and 3rd fingers align at right angles to the pistol axis- as they should. I have a strip of stair grip attached along the front strap to give a bit of grip on the frame and have stippled the top surface of the palm rest, as is my preference.
A great addition to my Margolins and I’m so glad that the grips are now available again for others.

Thanks for the heads-up!
I've been using a homemade ortho grip I rigged out of modeling clay with steel reinforcements on my Margolin, but this looks so much better.

What a dream... I am looking for Margolin, but here in US prices are just ridiculous... Last one I saw went for over 3K...

UnGe - if you'd really like one, you could consider buying a Margolin in Canada. They're regularly available up here in on line auctions. This recent example (link below) went for CDN$430 (plus taxes). I understand the charge for getting a handgun imported into the USA is about $250, through Borderview, IRUN Guns, and some others -- the complication is all on the US side.

Very interesting/tempting. Do you happen to know any CA auction sites that can handle US "complications" themselves? Or what is the procedure for handling this?Hamster wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 9:44 pm UnGe - if you'd really like one, you could consider buying a Margolin in Canada. One of the main Canadian auctioneers has this info on its site for USA purchasers:
https://bid.switzersauction.com/USA-INT ... _i40746481
That auctioneer, Switzer, is on the iCollector site.
Essentially they require you to take possession through one of the border services who specialize in these transactions. I have not used any of these border services myself, but have heard good things about Borderview - they handle export to USA as well as import to Canada from USA: https://www.borderview.com/
The auctioneer may have other recommendations.
Even tho handguns are heavily regulated in Canada, the cross border complication and expense is all on the US side. It would be pretty much impossible to do this yourself, from what I've seen of the (largely incomprehensible) US forms and the need to deal with both US Customs and the ATF. Am I right that even a target pistol has to have a safety, to be let into the USA?
And of course when you're buying an item up here priced in CDN$ from the USA, you get an automatic discount.
Borderview can probably facilitate a buy from any Canadian gun store, as well as the auctioneers (or a private seller). One very reliable Canadian source for good used target pistols is TEC Trade Ex. They acquire guns in Europe and sells online here. Presumably they'd be willing to sell via Borderview for you -- https://www.tradeexcanada.com/produits/74
Our federal government is planning to allow cities to ban handgun ownership entirely. If that goes thru, there may be a lot of good Canadian pistols coming available for export.

Re: Margolin Orthopaedic Grips Available Again
Re buying from Canada - another user in the US has pointed out that the current US embargo on Russian firearms would prevent importing a Margolin from Canada.

Most of Margolins were made in USSR decades ago, in the times young Putin was sneaking a smoke in the school toilet..
