Rec's for Walther LGV repair??

Post by Tyro »

I have a Walther LGV Spezial that ( I suspect ) needs new seals - pressure is weak and sounds a bit burpy when firing. Who is currently working on these and can turn-around a repair reliably?

Alternatively - could (should?) a complete amateur replace the seals on a classic LGV if they have some mechanical aptitude and proceed w/ caution? - provided they can diagnose the issue and obtain parts.

* I have found some references online, am hoping for recommendations and confirmation on which are still active and reliable.

any advice will be appreciated

Why not ask our host (see top of page)?

ah, didn't know Scott works on the classics - I'll check-in with him. thanks

update - nope. They don't have the parts to perform a seal job on the LGV

Barring that, you may find something in this list:

Good luck!

thank you! - missed your response 'til now. I may need to go with a substitute as LGV seals have become a rarity, as have repair techs.

excellent - thank you! - seems they're fine w/ shipping to the US & the prices are sane. Plus they have a bunch of parts that will be useful spares.
I'd found another German supplier of seals, but they were sold with a kit to increase the rifle's velocity. It appears that Waffen-Center is offering a correct seal + adapter fabricated to the original spec and joule rating, which is ideal.

I`m not really in air rifles, but to me the LGV seems to be a somewhat older model. Nice. If it were mine I would do quite some to keep it running. Maybe you`d like to browse this marketplace. Seals and misc. parts are offered. https://www.egun.de/market/list_items.p ... gv&quick=1

Thanks rkamy - I do have my eye out or certain spare parts. It's good to know that egun lists small parts as well.
And yes, mine is from ~1970. Fortunately the classic match air rifles from Walther, FWB etc.. were very well made. If you don't abuse them, they're typically easy to keep running and performing well. But the seals will eventually expire, that's their one vulnerability.
