trend in scores?

Post by Craig E. »

I am curious if anyone has noticed a trend in high-end competition scores with the advent of PCP's (over springers and CO2). For example, the LP10 v the LP1's and other manufacturers. Are these newer versions actually increasing the results from already good shooters? Just curious. TIA for any observations. Craig

Dear Craig,
The world record holds from 1993. It is 593. I don't know (honestly) anything about the pistol involved, but have some nasty suspicions... I'd appreciate the certain knowledge, though.
Best regards, Alexey

When did the target change

the ring diameters decreased by 0.5mm a while back ( I cannot recall the exact year) making the old records difficult to compare with today's scores

Sergei Pyzhianov's world record of 593 was actually shot in 1989 at the World Cup Final in Munich.
I am pretty certain that the new target was actually introduced in January of that year along with the new rapid fire target.
When you think of the number of opportunities there have been to break this record I believe it to be even greater than Eric Buljung's Standard Pistol record (584 in 1983)

I think it needs a faster twist to stabilize the longer bullets.
