WA1500

Post by Brian James »

I’m coaching a shooter who is interested in PPC shooting and I wonder if anyone knows of an active forums for WA1500 or PPC? The equivalent or targettalk for PPC.

He’s shot a few matches and has factory CZ Shadow 2 which I can gather is an acceptable pistol though not in the same leave as purpose built PPC pistols (eg S&W PPC 9 or the Sig X5s and X6s).

My background is in ISSF pistol events and a limited amount of Bullseye shooting.

Thanks in advance

Brian

PS out of my curiosity is the SiG 210 a popular PPC gun?

would be interested in info about PPC myself.
the event is picking up steam in my country (Romania) but it seems that in USA and other countries has been deprecated.

Some people have done well with the Sig P210

Here the popular guns are STI Rangemasters and Tanfoglios with 6" barrels.

Matches are won and lost at 50m, most guns need gunsmithing to achieve their best.

Is it safe to assume 38spl is the dominate revolver caliber and 9mm for semi autos or is 38super and 45acp popular as well.

Locally it’s being shot indoors on 20 yard range in the winter months.

Thanks

.38 spl, 9mm and sometimes 38 super I think.

For .38 WA1500 shooters have developed a load with a 100gr SWC projectile pushed well into the case so the tip is ~2.5mm below the case mouth (or ~1.5mm for +P cases).
So gives you ~700-800 FPS and much reduced powder usage and better consistency. The 148gr mid range load is old hat, and hard cast poly-coated projectiles are better for a match where you'll be shooting ~200 rounds without cleaning.
