Correct grip

Post by Akitaki »

I realized I grip my pistol (AP) in 2 different ways and it seems to be random which one I choose...

In the first way the gun is mostly held by the 3 fingers under the trigger and the left side of my hand (I'm right handed) so the pressure is on the bottom of the grip so to speak...
In the second way I put most of the gun weight forward on the trigger finger almost helding the gun with it (if this make sense to you). This way seems to help with the release, as the trigger finger is already under pressure.

Which one (or a different one) is generally considered the correct way to hold the gun?

I only know 2 ways:
1) pressure on the grip just with the middle and ring fingers;
2) lateral pressure on the grip with the back of the thumb and forefinger (I don't know the designation). Like a tweezer. I don't know how to explain it better without an image ...
I use only 1. I can't hold the pistol well with 2.
