The Quantico Shooting Club will be offering NRA Basic Pistol and NRA Personal Protection in the Home courses. Contact the Club at instruction@quanticoshootingclub.com or call (703) 640-6336 for more information or to register for this training! Any class cancellations will be posted on the Club Forum the Thursday immediately prior to scheduled class date.
Basic-Pistol [Cost $90.00 (To reserve a space in the class a $45 Non-Refundable Deposit is required)
This ten hour course is designed for people who have recently purchased or are considering acquiring a handgun. Safe gun handling, storage, maintenance and basic marksmanship skills are emphasized through classroom lecture and practical application. Students will be supplied with a text book, as well as eye and ear protection. Pistols and ammunition for this course are provided by the QSC. This course meets the Commonwealth's training requirement for applying for a concealed carry permit. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch to this course. Minimum class size 3 -- Maximum 8.

NRA Personal Protection in the Home [Cost $110.00+ammunition (To reserve a space in the class a $55 Non-Refundable Deposit is required)
This ten hour course will emphasize defensive techniques and strategies for personal protection in the domestic environment. This is NOT a class for first time shooters. Students need to be able to consistently hit a pie-plate-size target at 15 feet prior to taking this class. Various "home hardening" procedures will be discussed, along with contingency planning for integrating firearms into those plans. Additionally, defensive measures outside of the home will be discussed, to include, observation and avoidance, traveling in an automobile, and the use of less-than-lethal alternatives . Emphasis will be on shooting from awkward positions and using verbal commands to gain control of potentially lethal situations, along with ideas for pre and post incident options. Students will be supplied with a text book, as well as eye and ear protection. Students may bring their own firearm, or can borrow one of the Club's guns. Students are responsible for providing their own ammunition. 300 rounds will be required for this course. Shooters with semiautomatic pistols should have at least two magazines. Revolver shooters should have at least one speed loader. This course meets the Commonwealth's training requirement for applying for a concealed carry permit. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch to this course. Minimum class size 3 -- Maximum 6 SCHEDULE: 10 January 2004, 21 February 2004
