modern target system

Post by DGIDE »

OK, so I'm old. I have shot on airgun target systems where you put the target into the carrier, turned a hand crank to send the target down, shot, turned the crank again to bring back the target, repeat. Then the hand crank was replaced with a pneumatic system where you just pushed a button. I do not remember which system we used at Mid-Winter back in 1989, maybe Rover could tell us. I first saw the electronic targets in Mexico City at the World Cup in 1990 / maybe 1991. They only had 8 sets and were just used for finals, I was no where near finals, so did not shoot on them. Jump from there to last week when I was able to shoot at the CMP range in Anniston Alabama. What a blast, I do not know the make of the system, but it was a great time. No, the system did not improve my score. Just being able to look down, see where the shot hit, the score to a 10th of a point and all the other data the system tells you was really something. If anybody ever gets a chance to shoot on such a system, it is worth any effort to do so.
