Anschutz LP50 opinion
Merry Christmas Eve.
Just a quick question...
Does anyone have an opinion on an Anschutz LP50 (I think) target pistol.
I'm upgrading on a very tight budget from an IZH-64m to something PCP.
Please let me know what you think... good, bad or ugly.
Thanks and have a great Christmas.

Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
You meant the Steyr LP50? It is a 5 shot, match grade air pistol, it's light years ahead of the IZH46M. The LP50 is ideal for dynamic shooting, they are expensive and if you can get one cheap, then good for you.
Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
If you're looking for cheap....forget it. Not only is the gun expensive, you have to invest in SCUBA gear (forget pumps).
Either keep your present clod-buster or upgrade to a better SSP, which will give you equal scores to a PCP.

If you can find one, the older Steyr LP-5 is CO2 operated much easier to fill. For me a 20 lb CO2 tank lasts a LOOOOOONG time.
should be cheaper than the latest & greatest LP-50 also. Just note, you have to put the pistol's CO2 cylinders in the freezer prior to filling, and get a CO2 tank with a siphon feed.

Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
Now there are portable air compressors designed to fill pcp airguns.
Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
The LP50 are real air hogs. I'd hate to have to use a pump to feed one.
While, my limited time with the LP50 suggested some improvements over the LP5, in my opinion, the latter AP had just about the worst trigger of any AP in it's price class.
Too bad, because they are fun to shoot.
Maybe the LP50 is better??

Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
We use our LP-50 compact for silhouette and falling plate shooting. It is the most fun I've had in years with an airgun. Each cylinder gets 80 consistent shots, and with 5 shot magazines the shooting goes fast!
Is the LP-50 a fine German air pistol? Yes. Is the trigger as glass smooth as a 10M target pistol? No. Is it the best way to burn through 6-8000 pellets a month? 100% Yes
I can only take so much of shooting small holes in small pieces of paper before I need a mental break. That is where the LP-50 shines. Nothing takes me back to being a kid faster than "plinking" chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams! I love the challenge, the sound, and visually watching the targets go flying.

Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
For 15 years I hand pumped my PCP rifles and pistols. My FX pump is still going strong to this day. Last christmas I purchased a shoebox compressor. My PCP airgun shooting went from a chore to fun. I no longer dread filling tanks. The world of PCP airguns is seeing a huge hay day right now. Compressors once cost $2-$3000 and weighed a ton. Now $2-$300 gets you a portable compressor that pumps to 4500 psi! Our hobby is an expensive one. If you are willing to pay $2000 for an airgun you should be willing to pay to feed it.

Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
Close, but no cigar...It's Austrian made and their engineering is just as good, if not better, than their German neighbors.
Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
I don't have to. I have a SCUBA tank at home and three more plus a sturdy compressor at the range. I also have a SSP; probably my favorite gun.kevinweiho wrote: ↑Sat Dec 29, 2018 5:25 amC'mon Roger, don't be a cheapskate, buy once, cry once...
Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
Hey, Rog, if an SSP is your favorite, what will you let me have your M10 for?
Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
I couldn't sell it, Willie. I keep the PCPs around to make me appreciate my SSP more. My friend has two SSPs and is looking for a third.
Re: Anschutz LP50 opinion
what better SSP than IZH 46M are the being produced/sold today? (i know about discontinued models like FWB 103...)
