Shipping airguns to US

Can anyone help with what is required to allow airguns to be shipped into the US - customs paperwork, licenses etc? Does it vary from state to state?
Thanks

Mac, I have bought used 10M airguns from the UK, New Zealand, Canada and Germany without incident. The best way I have found is to have the sender mail it by their postal service after packing extremely well. It can come by air or sea, difference is money but air means less time in a container somewhere. Figure about $75 fron Europe for a rifle. The foreign postal service will get it to the point of entry and it will go to customs. The customs declaration should be filled out correctly, state it is a 10M Target air rifle, etc. The majority of transcontinental packages are X-rayed so have it match the declaration. Customs , in 11 of 12 cases just passed it on to the USPS. In one case they opened and then resealed the package then passed it on. USPS then delivered it to my door. In two cases the USPS collected a "customs fee" of about $20, it the rest nothing. No license is need. Expect about 2 to 3 weeks by air but some take longer. Easy process.gtb
