.22 rim fire snap cap use

I would like to use a rim fire snap cap to dry fire. These .22 rim firers are only hit on the rim. How many times can one be used? When do you know they are used up? Thanks Ron

Yellow dry wall anchors work great. Or a magnetic business card

if it's an Anschutz, get a firing pin for dry fire... it's been "shortened" and won't hurt your rifle. ps: the snap caps I've used fragmented and left small pieces of plastic in the chamber :-(

Hillman 4-6-8 x 7/8" from Amazon is about 100 for $6. I have one pistol that would actually feed them out of the magazine.

Yes, but then you have to bend over and pick it up off the floor and reinsert it after it ejects. :(

We tried the Tipton snap caps with our Pardini. Lots of broken red plastic in the action. We threw what was left of them away, and now use once fired cases for snap caps.

That’s what I use, an empty fired case. Their easy to come by after a match!

The orange Pachmayr snaps hold up pretty well to multiple shots - they're a much softer plastic so they can handle quite a few hits. We used them for teaching and safety training when I RO'd for the Oregon State pistol club. Not as cheap as some of the other options, but they fed well from magazines, we got lots of uses, and there wasn't the risk of confusing them with live rounds that can happen using fired cases if you're not paying attention.

+1 for the yellow dry wall anchors. Anything aluminium is no good, they only last a few goes. The drywall ones seem to have a bit of spring in them, last more shots.
