Import from Canada

Can anyone with a FFL and experience importing handguns from Canada provide some guidelines so both buyer and seller are safe? Thank you.

You'll need an FFL to receive it and transfer the gun to you. The buyer submits ATF Form 6 to get permission to import the gun. The Form 6 identifies the FFL who will actually receive it and transfer it to you.
When the seller does whatever is required at his end he transfers the gun to your FFL via U.S. Customs.
Your FFL then follows the local procedure for transferring it to you.

The Canadian seller will need an export permit from the Export and Import Controls Bureau of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. See http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/eicb/ for more information.
