good prices on left hand FWB 300s and 601

Post by Mark »

What's the going rate for left hand FWB 300s and FWB 601s in good condition?
What's a good price for a buyer?
I'm hoping I might be able to afford a 601, but I'm not sure if it's cheap enough.

Also, differences between the 600, 601, 602, and 603?

What are the differences between the different 600 series guns?

Unfortunately it is a little tougher for lefties. You should check the wash. smallbore site (http://members.aol.com/washsmallbore/stufsale.htm). The list of stuff for sale is long out of date but if you email John Crossman who maintains the site he still keeps the list and he did have mostly pneumatics on there when I last emailed him. Also, a boy that shoots with us recently bought a lefty fwb 2600 smallbore rifle. The seller had, and I think still has, a lefty fwb 600 for sale. If interested email me and I will get you the fellow's email.

600 is the original, of course. 601 added a safety catch on the cocking lever so it couldn't accidentally fly open if knocked. 602 they somehow messed up; several good shooters went back to their 601s. 603 came out pretty soon afterward and fixed things. Added the "stabilizer".

Anywhere from $600-1100, depending on the seller and what comes with it.

Cheap as you can get it, right?

I don't expect you'll find 300s much cheaper than 600s frankly. They are collectors' items if in good shape.
FYI, I'm selling my LH Anschutz 2002, which is certainly comparable with the 600 series. You can follow the link.

While I guess there is some risk, I never found the lack of any safety gizmos on the 600 to be a setback at all. Also, I recently picked up an ans. 2002 pneumatic like Michael is selling to keep as a loaner. One nice feature with the 2002 is that it is much easier to put a scope on than the fwb's. I mention this because I know lots of people like to get 10m guns and use them for silhouette practice, shoot bugs(good fun), etc.

I agree. We had 2 600s and 2 601s.

I assume that's because of the loading gate design?

That and the little bit of dovetail in front of the loading port that allows you to put a front ring on. I can use the same rings that I use on my smallbore rifle but just slide them on the scope a bit.

Contact me if you would like to discuss my left hand Steyr LG-10. I can offer you a very nice price for an essentially new rifle.
