ISSF Centrefire and Aristocrat sights?

Post by oglover »

Hi learned people,

I am trying to get an understanding if an Aristocrat ribbed sight will be legal in ISSF Centerfire. The ISSF rules state that the sights cannot have a protective covering but unsure if a ribbed sight meets that criteria?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Looks okay to me. I think in the spirit of the rules they are more thinking a fully encircled front sight which could be a peep.

As I understand it the side blinder bits on the front sight would break the rules as they would be a protective covering.
Also check the sight radius, plus a revolver with a rib won't usually fit the ISSF box.

"Only open sights are allowed. Sights using fiber
optic, light enhancing or reflecting color surfaces are
prohibited. Optical, mirror, telescope, laser-beam,
electronically projected dot sights etc., are
prohibited. Any aiming device programmed to
activate the firing mechanism is prohibited. No
protective covering is permitted on front or rear open
sights. "
