Anschutz "compact" rear sight

Post by No1_49er »

I'm hoping that someone here can identify this Anschutz rear sight that is quite compact.
If you can help with a model number and era of production, that would be great. Not sure if it is specifically for Smallbore or air rifle - could be for other discipline/s?
Many thanks,

I think that's a 6832. It's a simplified (non-cantable) version of the Steyr rearsight.

Thanks. I did a check via our friend Google; 6832 is a front tunnel, and the rear sight which is usually associated with it is a 6805, which it isn't.
My quest continues.

My bad, it's a 6829. I was only 3 away.

It's still an Anschutz version of the long serving Steyr. The first 6829s were identical bar the logo on the turrets.

Thanks Tim.

Are they somewhat scarce/rare? Neither of them shows up in a Google search, unless my search terms are "wrong".

I would say not common is more fitting. These aren't rare in the sense of being valuable. Most shooters buying Anschutz sights went for the better known 6805 and 7002 models. The 6829 is sturdy, and the adjustment is spring loaded to eliminate backlash, although the adjustment range is limited by the design.

well I think its a 6809. Google images dont exist!
Same design also as Centra pro 57 and Gehmann compact. Spring loaded plate with vertical and horizontal screws to push against the 45 degree spring. The spring guide can be seen sticking out the bottom corner of the frame.

Thanks to you both, Tim and Peter. You're both correct.

After a somewhat convoluted Google search I was about to track down a copy of the 2007 Anschutz catalogue. There, on p64 is reference, and image, of sight set 6829 which includes 6809 rear sight and 6832 front sight. And on p65 is a single image of 6809 rear sight.

So, query solved :)
