Hammerli "Rapid" Air Pistol

Post by Chuckiep »

I have a Hammerli rapid air pistol from the 50's

It has a low serial number. Its leaks air through he muzzle. I don't have a way to fill the CO2 tank. I need an adapter. it doesn't have a pin to puncture the CO2 cartridge in the back. my questions are:

1. Does any body here have parts they are willing to sell? or a broken one for parts?
2. does anybody repair these?
3. How do i get it to take CO2 cartridges?

It would help if you told us where you are. If you are in the US, Larry's Guns in Maine is probably your best bet.

It is unlikely that it can be economically converted to use CO2 cartridges if that wasn't originally an option.

I'm headed to maine next weekend for Larry's lobster match. I'll try to ask him then.

The co2 cylinder was an option. But the serial number is 004. I am assuming it didn't get the parts for it. I have heard of this getting done as it was a design option for the pistol.

You never know. At this point, Larry knows about as much as anyone about older Hammerlis. Good luck!

Hi,
Actually, I'm not so sure about Larry Carter. Maybe you know him better than I, but I've found him to be a little too cantankerous. (Just my personal experience dealing with him. If you've done better with him, I congratulate you!)

The guy to talk to is Rudy Marent, former Hämmerli gunsmith from Switzerland now living in the USA.
He can rebuild the old air pistols, fabricate obsolete parts as needed, etc. He even can do a CO2 cartridge conversion so it will take the easy to find size cartridges like they sell at Walmart, etc.
But, here's the bad news... Rudy lives in Houston! I haven't been able to reach him in some time, even before Harvey, and I've been worried about him.
Try: (713) 946-7028

These old Hämmerlis some times come up for discussion on an airgun forum. Try this:

Best Wishes in getting your Hämmerli up and running again,
Jim
