Wonder what would be involved? Steyr's exploded view with parts list for the LP50 is for the "standard" model so no way to check differences. Assume a regulator and hammer spring change would be necessary. Hopefully they will ad the RF and HP drawings.

Anyone ever messed with the velocity adjustments to check possibilities?
I also assume a modified regulator and hammer spring. I think the standard model with the velocity screw cranked up, will only deliver around 550-600 fps with light weight pellets.

My testing confirms your thoughts Kevin.

Did some velocity testing with my "Standard" LP50 Compact by turning the adjusting screw CW 1/2 turn at a time using RWS Basic 7.0g pellets. Made the adjustment and fired 5 shots, no test shots to settle the reg.
Baseline from the factory at test time was 485fps (5 joules).
1/2 turn yielded 495 fps
1 turn was 515.6 fps
1-1/2 turn was 523 fps
2 turns was 529 fps
2-1/2 turns netted 544 fps
3 turns was 551 fps (6.4 joules)
Stopped at 3 turns even though it felt there was more left. Backed it off to 1 turn cause I liked the "feel" of the shot and left it there for now. More testing showed very consistent speed and accuracy at this setting, as it was at the factory setting. Shot count went from approx 90 at factory settings to approx 70 now.

For comparison:
Factory settings for the new RF model (both full size and compact) is 551 fps (7.48 joule)
The HP full size model will come shooting at 722 fps (12.35 joule) and the compact at 673 fps (10.74 joule).
Factory settings made with 7.87 grain pellets for the HP and 8.18 grain for the RF.

So what is the difference between a standard LP50 and a RF model?

That's a good question. The obvious answer is that the RF comes set up to shoot at 7.5 joules whereas the standard is set at 5. I have no idea if the internals are the same. Hopefully Steyr will put out an exploded view with parts list of the new models so we can take a look.

Do the folks at Pilk's have any input on the new models??

Just picked up my LP50 High Power Compact from Pilk's. I made the rear sight rail out of a standard aluminum picatinny rail I had in the parts bin. Just had to cut to length. Screws right into the rear sight mount point & squares up to the receiver. Really sweet shooter. I will chrono it & give shot counts/ data shortly.
:)
*Also want to give props to Jennifer & folks @ Pilk's for helping with the grips. I ordered it with R/H mediums (as seen in the pic) and they're a little small for my manly mitts. Jennifer is sending out a Large & & also a large Universal (ambi) grip for me to try out at no cost.
Good Stuff!

I really like the looks of that pistol. I sure would like to handle one of those. If you put the universal grips on it I would like to see the picture.

thanks

Ok, so here's some data from an initial chrono today....Gassed the compact cylinder up to 150 Bar. Yes, I know. But I wasn't comfortable filling past 200 bar, and I seem to lose ALOT of air as I unscrew the cylinder from the fill adaptor. I'm new to this PCP stuff & still learning how to work with this system. So at that fill I started with....
-RWS 8.2gr wadcutters- 15 shots- 641 fps avg/ SD 2.5 fps
-Crossman Premier 7.56gr Wc's- 10 shots- 648 fps avg/ SD 7.3 fps
-GAmo Match 7.56gr Wc's- 10 shots- 633 fps avg/ SD 13.9
At this point the velocity #'s incrementally decreased. I got a total of 61 shots, with the last shot at a velocity of 462 fps. I'm REALLY impressed with this pistol as it's dead accurate & rings the steel silhouettes & sends them flying.
:)
I will get a proper shot count on a full cylinder shortly.

8.2g @ 641fps is 7.57 ft #'s or 10.26 joules. While that is above the "normal" average of 5-7 joules, it is well below the advertised 14 joules. More power is probably available with a sacrifice of shot count.

Charge your cylinder to 200 bar min. and don't be concerned about escaping air when unscrewing the cylinder. It is not from either the cylinder or scuba tank but from the space between the two.

I agree with "Deadeye", but I remember successfully shooting silhouette with my FWB 65.

BTW I believe your cylinder is tested to 300 BAR, so there is no fear of excessive charge at 200.

Its the short barrel compact. The product brochure indicates it should make up to 12 J.

Bet this pistol is pretty loud.

And for those interested in the grips. The Silhouette grip comes in L and R versions (page 16). The Universal small grip is ambidextrous. The Universal is usually seen on the LP2 (page 14). Steyr has discontinued the LP-S. The LP 50 is now the Silhouette gun with the grip and weaver mount that slides onto the shroud (pages 16 and 19).

I have the Silhouette grip and its pictured in an earlier post in this thread.

Here's a pic with the universal grips, they are ambidextrous & look the same on both sides. These are marked as "L" but still seem just a hair too small in my hands. I guess all the dudes in Europe just have naturally small appendages.

Very comfy though. The Large target grip was also just a little small, so I'll be sticking with the universal.

Why not exchange the L for their XL size grip. It will suit the biggest hand and is a no cost choice.

Great pistol BS !

Maybe things have changed since I shot silhouette (quite a while ago).

We used the "taco" hold. That meant holding the gun close to the face (kinda straight grip) and the opposite hand curled over the top. Elbows were held close to the body with one (left) foot slightly advanced. The grip didn't have to be anything fancy.
