Question on USA Nationals

Post by Patrick »

Camp Perry holds the National Matches for the NRA events. Is there a US Nationals for ISSF matches, or are these just team trials, selection matches, etc. (Or are the ISSF matches held at Perry as well?) Matches of particular interest are 25m (Sport) Pistol and Air Pistol.
Are they set up for anyone to attend or do you have to achieve a minimum score? Where are these matches posted? Lastly, can foreign nationals compete?
Reason being is that I am building a training plan for next year and may drive south to include more competition.
Thanks in advance.

Patrick,
Yes, USA Shooting holds nationals for international shooting. There used to be a minimum score, but I don't think there is anymore. The Canadian team frequently shoots with us at our nationals. They also frequently use our matches as their own tryouts for various teams. You can find all this information on USA Shooting's website: http://www.usashooting.com/usaShooting.cfm
You can check under Match Programs to find out about what matches are coming up. Check Results to see what happened in the past.

I don't think they allow men to shoot women's sport pistol though? Did you mean Centre Fire match?

Nope: I meant the Sport Pistol match. Men do shoot it as well. Also, it is a co-ed paralympic event. But, the main interest was for my girlfriend, who shoots it rather well.
Thanks!

Sorry I should have clarified. Men's Sport Pistol is shot in Australia at local club level by men, but not at State/National Champs levels. However as you mentioned, disabled men are allowed to shoot it alongside the men's CF match. Is Men's 25m shot at the US Nationals?

Foreign nationals can participate ... but not in the Finals ... which can be frustrating ...

Minimum Qualifying Scores for Nationasl (USASNC)

Post by EfrenR »

There seems to be a new minimum qualifying scores for AP (530; 500 for Jr), FP (520, 500 for Jr), and RT for one to get an automatic invitation to the USASNC. This is a new USA Shooting program. Check the website of USA Shooting under Match Programs. There is only one regional match for each region (Northeast, Southeast, Central, Southwest, and Northwest) and all are considered as Preliminary Tryouts (PTO's) for the USASNC. It now appears that USA Shooting requires a minimum score at regional matches for one to compete at the Nationals.
