Are these amounts in Australian Dollars (AUD$1 = Approx .65 USCents).
It amazing just how much we have invested in our guns - but the money from the confiscation is no compensation for loss of the fun of shooting.

Re: Oz gun handback - value --- Not enough!!!!!!!!
What do they do with all the nice guns?
Maybe you should hire a hit man and escape to San Diego where you and your guns would be welcome. Terrible that nice people can be made into criminals for no reason. Too bad the good old days seem to be fading so quickly in most countries. No buyback will compensate for the loss of our quality of life.
How do the citizens feel about the government paying their tax dollars to invest in guns to be destroyed? Shameful!
They don't trust the law abiding citizens and make having fun a crime.
Shame on the crazy and mean Australian government!

You must be getting out of pistol shooting all together to sell legal pistols as well.
DON'T GIVE IN TO THE PRESURE OF GOVT.
THAT IS WHAT THEY WANT US TO DO. TO GIVE THEM ALL UP.

Re: Oz gun handback - funny side
Whilst we are all crying about the loss of many of the guns we use in our sport (remember we cannot field shoot in Australia with handguns) there here are a couple of examples of the way the Victorian Government is handling things.
Bloke handed in 5 .45 barrels from 1911 style handguns. They were inspected then he was told to sit down and the man would get his cheque. 10 minutes later he walked out the door with the barrels and the cheque. Oh well he can always hand them in again for more money.
While he was waiting a bloke came in with a Dillon 550B press with dies. The dimwit behind the counter took the whole press and paid in full for it. He then put it in the press and broke it. He was only supposed to take the dies and pay for them. I suspect the man who brought in the press made money and went out and bought a new one.
Reports from the government seem to suggest that they know this will have no affect on crime but the Prime Minister hates guns and this will get rid of some of them. Maybe when he is gone we can get them all back again. Anyone want a well used and worn out prime minister?

I'm not giving up shooting - I've still got 10 other pistols. I really wanted to get rid of the GPE as I did not want a worthless, illegal pistol in about 15 months time.
