I wish...... I lost mine in 1997 when centre fire pistols were banned in the UK.
A brilliant pistol in .32 S&W long.

Re: New Manurhin MR73 Match shipment arrives in Oz.
Production ceased a year or two back allowing Chappius Armes to build a new production facility for the MR73 using state of the art computerised machinery which I am told helps in achieving tolerances and consistency not previously obtained.Didn't know they were still in production!

The price varies slightly depending on the currency fluctuation, however the first allocation sold for around $4000 AUD.

Hmmm... used by 0% of the world best CF shooters.

Gorgeous Deadeyedick, just gorgeous....
For those who don't know much about them, Manurhin Match revolvers are made and finished to quality standards that American, and all other manufacturers ( except Korth ) can only dream about.
When I had it, my mint 1965 Colt Python looked like a Saturday Night special when I compared it to one of my Manurhins...

Manurhin is better than Korth in my opinion, especially for ISSF. And way cheaper!Leon wrote:... Manurhin Match revolvers are made and finished to quality standards that American, and all other manufacturers ( except Korth ) can only dream about...

Not quite. I have a Korth as well and, as excellent as Manurhin are, they are not in the same league as Korth. My one has the special blue Plasma finish...
Re: New Manurhin MR73 Match shipment arrives in Oz.
Having shot both, I prefer the Manurhin as it is .38 vs .357 for the Korth.
The Korth is a lot heavier and I think the MR73 is a better balance.
Having shot both the MR73 .32 and .38 together for a number of years I
found that the .38 was more accurate.
For the precision side of the match the .38 performs better than
the .32 (in either a revolver or auto).
The .38 seems to have better ballistics and is easier to reload high quality ammo.
The rapidfire stage requires that you be well trained, the revolver shoots
well but it is easy to make mistakes.
If you cannot afford a Manurhin MR73 a good old S&W 14 masterpiece with a
good grip will do the job.

Korth have made match revolvers in both .32 and .38.
Here is a picture of a fellow club member's .32 Korth Match revolver...

Nooooooooo ! - but it sure looks nice - fantastic in fact.j-team wrote:Does that make it shoot better?Leon wrote:... My one has the special blue Plasma finish...
It is a super hard surface treatment which renders the gun essentially scratch-proof.
And no J-Team, I am not going to test it :)
More info ( and sorry to the OP for hijacking his thread )

I've heard of wedding cakes looking too good to eat. But thats the first gun I've seen that looks too good to shoot! Not my cup of tea personally, but if you enjoy it, hell, have fun.

Re: New Manurhin MR73 Match shipment arrives in Oz.
Both brands are excellent, but I feel that Manurhin is the workhorse of the two, Korth being more of a conversation piece...
Re: New Manurhin MR73 Match shipment arrives in Oz.
Over the years I have found one fault with the Mr73 Match, the extended rear
sight is vulnerable to knocks and bends easily.
Even when packed in 2 inch foam case airline baggage handlers have managed to
give the case a big enough hit to bend the sight arm.
They can be straightened with gentle heat but only once and if you break it
you have to buy a complete rear sight ..$$$$$
I took mine off and carefully put it away and now run the combat sight off the
magnum.

David M - you've always suggested putting a better barrel in a Model 14 K38 as a cost-effective way to obtain a great CF gun - question; what barrel would you recommend?

I'll get in before David. Douglas would be my choice.Leon wrote:David M - you've always suggested putting a better barrel in a Model 14 K38 as a cost-effective way to obtain a great CF gun - question; what barrel would you recommend?

Depend what you can get your hands on at the time.......
Either Douglas, Shilen or Lothar Walther.
1 in 14 for low velocity wadcutters ISSF
1 in 18 for Service pistol
