Adjustable Rear Iris Question.
Why are these offered with & without 1.5x magnification? Is the 1.5x mag legal in ISSF or USAS matches?

Re: Adjustable Rear Iris Question.
No lens is currently allowed on the rifle under current ISSF rule 7.4.1.6
There is a probability that will change from 01/01/2017.

Re: Adjustable Rear Iris Question.
As David writes, ISSF rules have traditionally prohibited lenses that mounted on the rifle. However many national rule books, US-NRA, NSRA GB-NRA, and I think the DSB allow a lens in the sights subject to various restrictions. In practise the split isn't so simple as 1.5X for domestic and not for ISF. Many shooters who only enter domestic-rule competitions prefer a plain iris (with or w/o filters and polarisers) and a prescription lens worn in glasses, as contacts, or attached to the rearsight. The integral lenses in an eyepiece are harder to clean than specs, and if you don't need to re-adjust the focal length are simpler, and allow the rearsight to be placed closer to the shooter.
