Steyr LP-Silhouette

Post by X10 »

I am tempted to buy a Steyr LP-Silhouette for silhouette shooting among other things.

Does any of you have experience with a LP-S? Please share if you do.

Background:

I have been shooting a LP50 for 8 years - love it. I now want to shoot with red-dot or scope too. I want to keep the LP50 for open sight shooting.

I could go for a LP10 for open sight and use LP50 for scope or red-dot - LP-S better than LP50 for scope/red-dot use?

First world problem - I know :-) I prefer first world problems to real problems :-)

I don't have any direct experience with the LPS but I did choose to get the LP50 instead, mainly because it is lighter & semi auto vs manual advance of LPS. Plus the LP50 is easier to source, used or new.

The LPS has the same trigger as the LP50 (per Steyr) and more fpe but is heavier. It comes with a grip that is more suited to two handed or taco hold shooting. This grip will fit the LP50 also. And the LPS has a dovetail for easier optics mounting.

There are some weaver adapter options that make it easy to pop a red-dot on/off the LP50 so irons could be used when you want.
One made by Steyr: http://www.krale-schietsport.nl/en/weav ... istol.html
And another but would require removal of the shroud and using the LP2 moderator: https://www.maestro-design.co.uk/produc ... r-adapter/

LP-S must be a rare bird. No one seems to have one.

Thanks Wasatch: I may just end up converting my LP50 to red-dot/scope use and then get an LP10 Evo or whatever for open sight shooting.

What do others use for silhouette shooting?

Jeff has sold his LP S. I believe airguns plus in Canada has one in inventory last I checked.

Don't let the price shock you, it's in Canadian dollars. Current exchange is right at $2080.
