Scope Thoughts: NG20 vs NG30, or...

Post by SamEEE »

... Something completely different?

Looking for an opinions overall on the Nanjing Optics NG20x33 vs. NG30x50.
Would prefer to buy once (and cry once!). Budget sits around 400USD.

Saving for TOZ to pimp, also - or a CM84E (Kool-Aid?), haven't quite decided on that one yet it will probably be subject to a future TT post... I digress.

I shoot all of the Pistol Disciplines. Mostly concerned about the resolving power of the 20x scope at 50m, especially considering the diminutive form factor.
Primarily my focus is on 10m and 50m at this stage.

I find myself travelling quite a bit to shoots so if I could poke it into my Pelican 1510 that'd be handy.
Some numbers.

I have both the NG20 and NG30. Both are great scopes . The 20 should be OK at 50m .

BTW - you can buy directly from the factory in China ....

NG30 has a better stand and is fine for 50m. It's great for 25m as well, the field of view limits you to the black. The smaller scope is a struggle at 50m, but is very compact and works well at 25m, although the stand is flimsy.
Both scopes fit well in pelican cases for travelling. These were reasonable value scopes in the past, but could be considered expensive and not the best value for money today. Having said that, if they can be sourced from the factory at a better rate than available (in Australia), then they would be a good buy.

Well, if they don't make the 'scope, maybe some of these will soothe hurt feelings!

They seem to be a military equipment manufacturer as well:

Are you kidding? I have an NG30 which struggles at 50m. Mind you, I bought it direct from the factory and might have been sold a lemon.

Been thinking that something with Swarovski in the name might be better, just have to find the dosh.
