2015 "Zippy Open" Rifle Match


The University of Akron Rifle Team is proud to host the 2015 “Zippy Open” Rifle Match held on the
newly renovated ranges located in Schrank Hall on the beautiful campus of The University of Akron. This year, the 2015 Buckeye Open at The Ohio State University is being operated on the same weekends as the 2015 Zippy Open for your convenience. It is only a short 2-hour drive between the Columbus and Akron ranges. We hope you will take advantage of both competitions.

Facilities: 10 stall, 50 foot Smallbore Range and separate 8 stall, 10m Air Rifle Range: Both ranges are equipped with new state of the art Sius electronic scoring systems. All matches will
be live streamed over the internet. (Streaming web address and instructions provided upon registration.)

Relays: Each relay will consist of up to 10 competitors on the smallbore range and a maximum of 8
competitors on the air rifle range. Both ranges will be operated concurrently.

Course of Fire: One NCAA/USA Shooting smallbore 3 x20 match (60 shots) and one International air rifle match (60 shots) will be fired and counted for both individual and team scores. NCAA teams will follow current NCAA squadding rules, other teams (club/jr) do not have to fire as a unit. Teams must be designated prior to the beginning of the match.

Smallbore time limit: 1 hour 45 minutes (after the 15 minute preparation/sighting time)

Air rifle time limit: 1 hour 15 minutes (after the 15 minute preparation/sighting time)


Rules: The current 2013/14 NCAA/USA Shooting Rifle Rules will be in effect.
In accordance with the 2013/14 NCAA Rifle Rules, this match will not require
compliance with USA Shooting rules 7.5.4.5 (shooting jacket support arm seam),
7.5.2.3 & 7.5.3.5 (shoe sole dimensions/flexability) and 7.5.5.3 (trouser
reinforcements).

Targets: Sius Electronic Scoring System will be used with the current USA 50ft and
USA 10m air rifle target specifications.

Teams: Teams categories will be NCAA, collegiate club, junior/scholastic and
open. “Shoot 5, count 4” will be used for all team scores, or shoot 4 count 4 if
you only have 4 team members.

Coaching: Coaching on the firing line is not permitted.

Awards: Individual smallbore and air rifle awards of 1st, 2nd, 3rd for each category to include: Overall Champion, NCAA Collegiate, Club Collegiate, Open and Junior. Team smallbore and air rifle awards of one place for every 3 teams per category of NCAA Collegiate, Club Collegiate, Open and Junior.

Entries: Advance registration is required and relay assignments will be given in the order
they are reserved.

Entry Fees: Please pay match fees on your date of competition via cash or check.
Individuals competing in discipline gun only: $20.00
Individuals competing in both Air and Smallbore: $30.00
Teams may be entered for no additional fee.
