Rapid Fire Pistol grip rule question
I have not been a competitive international pistol shooter for 25 years due to injuries but now I am going to start training with rapid-fire pistol (I like the new equipment rules). I have reworked the old grips on my Walther to the new rule requirements per 8.13 Pistol Configuration and fit my big hands. Possible problem area – When I cut the grip back to get my small finger into the correct location, it made a small flat area with radius at the bottom of the grip. Question – will this area meet the new rule requirements?

Re: Rapid Fire Pistol grip rule question
It looks fine to me.
Re: Rapid Fire Pistol grip rule question
It's such a small area that I doubt anyone will give you grief about it.
You could still remove the palm shelf and file/sand that area flat again.
Then even the most nitpicky judge/referee could not find any reason to disqualify you.
Hope this helps

I must be missing something, maybe my monitor isn't a high enough resolution, but I cannot see anything questionable on that area of the grip.rmca wrote: You could still remove the palm shelf and file/sand that area flat again.

I presume you're not talking about the light area on the adjustable shelf which just looks like a reflection of the moulded material.
Re: Rapid Fire Pistol grip rule question
I just cut off the wood that was extending out below the little finger and it should be "good to go". I don't know why I did not see this simple fix before I posted. I think I have been working too many hours reworking my old grips..... again. Thanks for the helpYou could still remove the palm shelf and file/sand that area flat again.

Yep, that's the spot.David Levene wrote: I presume you're not talking about the light area on the adjustable shelf which just looks like a reflection of the moulded material.
It looked like it got carved when he cut the groove for the little finger. It has a slight upwards curvature. It's so slight that is barely noticeable on the picture on the right.
Now that he posted a new picture I'm confused on which part of the grip he thought was not to spec?

Why did you remove that bit of wood? There was nothing out of order there...

Re: Rapid Fire Pistol grip rule question
As far as I can see, there was nothing wrong with the grip to begin with.

As I said, I'd be surprised if it's there at all. It looks more like a reflection.rmca wrote:Yep, that's the spot.David Levene wrote: I presume you're not talking about the light area on the adjustable shelf which just looks like a reflection of the moulded material.

I don't know why you bothered. There was nothing wrong with it before.ronruble wrote: I just cut off the wood that was extending out below the little finger and it should be "good to go". I don't know why I did not see this simple fix before I posted.
If you were reacting to rmca's post then I believe he was talking about the top face of the adjustable shelf, which he thought had a "dip" sanded into it. As I said in another post, it looks more like a light reflection.
Re: Rapid Fire Pistol grip rule question
Well, everybody was right - I did not need to cut off the area of the grip, so I added it back (Loctite repair putty). But, as it turns out, it got cut off again when I flat cut the side of the grip so it will fit into the box (50mm dimension). – When I started reworking the grips to the ‘new’ rules, I missed the rule note “Up and downward blend allowed in the longitudinal direction”.I don't know why you bothered. There was nothing wrong with it before.
