spirit levels

I am looking at getting a spirit level for prone & 3x20, and was wondering if there were any disadvantages or advantages to the different types. Below are the four types I have come across while looking online.

I haven't tried these specifically but I have tried others, and always liked the inside type. I never liked the type that was outside because it changed the shape of the front sight and interfered with the sight allignment.

The top two both seem reasonable, depending on your preference for having the bubble inside or outside the tunnel (I prefer outside, but everyone is different).

The Gehmann slip on works fine if you never want to adjust it but if you need to tweak it a little, or a lot when changing positions, it is not user friendly.

The receiver mounted ones are preferred by many but I don't like how close they are to the eyes (harder to focus) and if you use risers you will need to put that on risers too.

I have tried and did not like the fourth type, the receiver rail clamp. It interfered with my sighting too much and was not entirely visible. I currently use a level on top of the foresight, though I would agree that it does somewhat affect the roundness of the foresight picture. Gehmann make another type that is positioned inside the foresight at the top, but that may be only for the Rightsight, which is 30mm and offers sufficient room for such a level. Seems like a good idea to me.

I built one that hangs off the side of the dovetail rail.....no matter where I place it (by the rear sight of in front of my bloop tube) I can't seem to concentrate on anything but the level...that's the only thing I look at, so my scores dropped. I shoot with a wire insert with leveling bars, and I use that to level the gun. I plan to switch to plastic inserts without leveling bars. If I have cant problems with those inserts, I may have to use a level.

I've used the first and fourth option and for me the first one was better, as previously mentioned I would get distracted by the receiver clamping one but with the screw-in level I would be able to see it out of the corner of my eye with out paying it much attention. For me using the level inside the sight would be very awkward because it would change the shape of the foresight. Just my thoughts.

Recently got a Centra front, with Centra level.

Am having some difficulty adjusting to using it, so may switch back to the
Anschutz instead.

This is another one of those "personal preferences" where you should try one (if possible) before buying.
