Dry Firing a 1911

Post by djtjr »

Ok basic question here but i am wondering if there is a correct or better way for the gun to be cocked for dry fire practice with a 1911? Do you rack the whole slide to cock the gun or can you simply cock the hammer back over and over and leave the slide alone? I ma wondering if there is a preferred way that is perhaps better for the gun and if so why.
Thanks

Just the hammer; the other way is too much like work.
